New Alice: Through the woods

Chapter 1

Alice Smyth was a pretty normal little girl, but her life changed for the worse one day.

"You have a destiny, dear Alice. It's time to explore the world, you have," said a mysterious disembodied voice, "To save Wonderland."
"Wonderland?  But I can't even save a pair of brand-new shoes from a mud puddle!" Yelled Alice. She was floating in space, among blue and purple clouds. Addressing herself now, "What a strange dream."
"You have to save Wonderland."   The voice kept repeating over and over trying to force its way into her head, it began spinning around her faster and faster. Alice was getting dizzy from the spinning voice.
Alice opened her eyes. Sitting up she began looking around, it took her a moment or two for her to realize that she was in her own backyard. She stood up and stretched her arms over her head, for she was sore from sleeping on the ground. Alice then began walk towards the woods. She knew she wasn't suppose to walk these woods on her own, for her mother feared  that  Alice would get lost, Alice didn't want to scare her mother, but she was  unable to stop. She felt like someone was pulling her to a certain point deep in the forest. She walked until she grew very tired. She walked to a clear pond. The water was crystal clear and was as smooth as a mirror. Alice looked at her reflection and the first thing that she noticed was that her clothing had changed. Instead of her favorite tee shirt and jeans, she was now clothed in a red dress decorated in golden chains and gears. She also wore a black apron, black and red striped leggings and black dress shoes with golden gears instead of bows. On her head she had another gold gear with feathers made of bronze wire attached to the gear.  Her normally long straight chestnut colored hair was now wavy with deep red highlights.
"Cool! But when did I change??" She asked herself for a moment. She didn't think anything more about her unique wardrobe change anymore after that. She decided after a moment that it was time to explore the woods. Alice walked deeper and deeper into the wood. The trees changed from shades of brown to shades of red and purple. The birds and animals changed too. She saw sticks of butter with butterfly wings, "A Butterfly?"; a flying toy horse, "A horsefly?" She also saw a miniature dragon buzzing about, "Oh, oh, oh a Dragonfly!!" Alice came upon a few red signs labeled 'Heres'a Street,' 'There'Sanother Road,' 'Somewhere'lse Street,' and 'Not' here Lane' written in gold paint. "These are Curious street names," Alice giggled to herself.
"Well Curiosity" Started a soft feminine voice behind Alice. Alice turned to see two girls, twin girls one in black with white hair, the other in white with black hair.
"Is the reason you're here, right?" Said the girl in white, she had a harsher voice than her sister. Alice stared into the girl's blue green eyes trying to determine what she had meant. "By the way I'm, Ovalia." Alice asked the girl in black what her name was and learned it was Ophelia
"It will be an honor to work with you later Alice." Said Ophelia, bowing so low her white hair nearly touched the ground, "Now, I'm afraid we must be off." The two teens said their farewells and walked the path of 'There'Sanother.' Alice stared after them until they became two dots in the horizon. She sat on a large rock debating on what she should do she sat her head in her hands as she thought about which path to take. After a while she thought she heard a little boy giggling mischievously, some light blue powder fell on her head, and it made her sneeze. After she brushed the powder off herself she felt very tired, she figured from walking so much.
"I wonder how far away from home. I hope Acantha doesn't miss me too much. (Acantha was the cat.) I hope Lindale gave her some cream. I do hope mother got that mean old bat out of our chimney I don't want Acantha to catch it. I wonder do cats eat bats. Do cats eat bats, do cats eat bats? Do bats eat cats?" She said sleepily. She fell asleep pondering if Cats eat bats or if bats eat cats. She rolled off the rock onto a pile of leaves some covering her face, getting caught in her hair. A few hours later a tall pale man and his son were walking from 'Here'sa' when the boy pointed out Alice hidden in the leaves. They wore Victorian styled clothing; the boy wore a black dress shirt under a red vest that covered half his chest, in his outside breast pocket was a golden pocket watch that he was looking at. He was now wearing goggles with one red lens and one blue one. "Papa, we need to take her to our home. She doesn't know about the bad things that come after night." The boy looked up to his dad through his goggles.
"I suppose your right. Chester's been here; remind me to talk to him later." The man said. He was wearing a red marchers' top with black designs, he also wore tight brown leather pants. He lost his left arm like many other factory workers have. He now had a gold and bronze, steam powered replacement. He picked up Alice, after brushing the leaves off her face and gently pulling them out of her hair, a large stream of steam puffing out of the mini boiler placed on his shoulder. "Let's hurry, White."
